Let the cutting begin
The first action was to cut all the damaged area out so as to give the repairs sound material to attach to.
Starting at the transom the hull began to look pretty good after the damaged parts had been removed. The condition of the ply was sound with only impact damage and no sign of rot or dampness. Maybe I'm lucky.
Then onto the front and sides where the chopping was a little more severe. At this stage I removed the bulkhead because it had lost its integrity, but it was still usable as a template to make a new one. Fortunately the tricky area around the dagger board case was in undamaged condition.
The remnants of the snub nose can be seen here. I would need to find an intact mirror so I could make template to construct a replacement.
With all the damaged material cut away, the task seemed a little less daunting. Things are looking up and poor old "St Jim" will more than likely return to the water some day.
