Filling, taping and sanding

With all the panels glued in place it was time to start filling the edges to blend them in.
Epoxy resin with filler was squeezed into all the gaps and allowed to set. Once set it was roughly sanded for a smooth transition.

To strengthen and complete the joint, woven tape was fibreglassed over all the seams. A messy job but essential to give strength and waterproofing plywood edges.

Then the long and filthy task of sanding all the repairs to a smooth finish. I am not a very patient sander and I decided that a few "battle scars" would add character and show its past adventures. Overall I was happy with what I had achieved considering what I had started with. I could spend hours, days and even weeks sanding and filling to end with a pristine finish, but I preferred to have a functioning little boat that could be knocked around without too much concern.

Generally speaking I was happy with how the rebuild took shape, although one area gave me trouble. Where the four panels joined at the bulkhead I had a definite bump that probably wouldn't exist if not for multiple panels being fitted. Its another compromise for me as its an area that is below the water line and also an area where strength is paramount over looks.

After an overall light sand it was ready for a paint.
